Children’s Programs

Sunday School

Sunday School is offered on a small and lively scale. For children of all ages, we gather at 9:30 on Sunday morning as a “One Room Sunday School” in which a variety of activities take place throughout the church year. It is fun and creates a strong and positive bond between those who attend. We do crafts, artwork and music to help us learn Bible basics such as the Ten Commandments and the story of Jesus’ miracles of healing.

Sometimes we do Christian Meditation and Yoga, to stretch our bodies and our souls.

Sometimes we just chill out, have a snack and watch a Veggie Tale.

Sometimes we do our own drama re-enactment of a story from the Bible, such as Moses and the Burning Bush. For that story, we went outside to a big bush and took turns being Moses and God. We even took off our shoes as God commanded Moses to do, because we were “standing on Holy Ground”!

The class for children and young people is taught by the rector, by members of the Christian Formation Committee, and by caring parents who take turns. We also have several sets of grandparents who volunteer to visit our class, spending time getting to know each young person, and helping them to know just how important they are to God and to God's church.

Our parish abides by our Diocesan policy called “Safeguarding Our Children”, which guarantees trained teachers who are knowledgeable in creating a happy and safe environment for the children of our parish.

Confirmation

Confirmation Class takes place for at least three months prior to the Bishop’s annual visit, whenever it is scheduled. 2008’s visit was on Epiphany Sunday, January 6th. There were 5 young people and two adults from Epiphany confirmed that day.
